Miguel Covarrubias (1904-1957) moved to New York from Mexico in 1924. Throughout the 1920s and 30s he was a regular contributor to Vanity Fair, Vogue and The New Yorker (and other magazines). I’ve dug through The New Yorker archives for a few of my favorite Covarrubias inside illustrations - enjoy!
