New Yorker covers are idea pictures and therefore lend themselves well to diagrams like maps. Witness Saul Steinberg’s “View of the World from 9th ave” or Maira Kalman and Rick Meyerovitz’s “New Yorkistan.” But it’s hard to find good ideas for maps — this is a good one.
