Blown Covers

RAW news, TOON Books and New Yorker covers you were never meant to see
toon-books:

Today’s TOON Spotlight is Israeli Illustrator Rutu Modan, author of the Eisner nominated TOON book, Maya Makes a Mess. Telling the story of Maya, a young, messy eater, invited to a fancy dinner party with the Queen, Maya Makes a Mess exhibits Modan’s trademark ligne claire drawing style and vibrant, graphic color schemes. Modan is best known for her politically driven, observational comics, as well as her autobiographical work and illustration. Maya Makes a Mess , her first children’s book, presents her work at its funniest and most accessible. On the TOON website, Maya Makes a Mess , Rutu talks about getting the idea from her daughter. See more of Modan’s work on her own website.
CONGRATULATIONS to Rutu for the Eisner Award nomination. Comics, pro, don’t forget to vote!
